The Division of Outcomes Research seeks to better understand the long-term physical and psychosocial consequences of cancer both in cancer survivors, as well as in the families; to identify populations at high risk for developing these long-term health-related problems; and to develop interventions to reduce the long-term morbidity in high risk individuals. An integral part of the Outcomes Research is the Center for Cancer Survivorship.

Division Objectives
- Foster an outstanding team of investigators to describe long-term outcomes of cancer and its treatment, and to identify host- and treatment-related risk factors
- Build new and expand upon already existing interdisciplinary collaborations throughout and beyond City of Hope to enhance the understanding and evaluation of approaches for detecting and preventing long-term effects of cancer treatment
- Understand the pathogenesis of treatment-related complications such as second cancers
- Describe the impact of cancer and its treatment on health-related quality of life in cancer patients through the trajectory of disease
- Develop and expand educational programs at multiple levels, focusing on cancer survivorship for healthcare professionals involved in the care of cancer survivors in both primary care and specialty settings
- Develop targeted interventions to prevent treatment-related long-term complications and improve the overall quality of life
- Expand the scope of the Center for Cancer Survivorship as an infrastructure and resource to meet these goals
