Major Initiatives of the Postdoctoral Studies Office:

I. Postdoc Training and Education

• Professional development workshops (grant writing, manuscript reviewing, presentation skills, communication/networking skills, clinical research).
• Career development workshops (writing résumé/CV, business correspondence, interview skills, management skills, scientific communication); coordinate job placement and alternative careers workshops for postdocs.

II. Administration/Human Resources

• Act as a liaison between the faculty and administration, and City of Hope postdocs.
• Handle all human resources functions (new hires, housing/relocation arrangements, immigration assistance).
• Develop a recruitment plan for PIs.
• Represent City of Hope at national postdoc meetings.  

III. Information Gathering/Database Management

• Maintain a database of current postdocs at Beckman Research Institute.
• Conduct exit interviews and maintain a database of former postdoctoral trainees (postdoc alumni) to track their advancement and success after leaving City of Hope.
• Implement a Web-based message board for the scientific communication between current and former trainees.
