Marcia M. Miller, Ph.D. learned electron microscopy while an undergraduate at UC Davis. She received her BS in 1965 and MA in 1966 at UC Davis. She continued her studies at UCLA receiving a PhD. in 1972. She enhanced her skills in electron microscopy as a Research Fellow under the guidance of Professor Jean Paul Revel in the Division of Biology at Caltech in Pasadena before joining the City of Hope in 1975. She furthered her training in Cell Biology and Immunology in Switzerland first as an International Research Fellow in Professor Max Burger’s laboratory at the Biozentrum at the University of Basel and later as a visitor to the Basel Institute for Immunology. In addition to directing the EM Core Facility, Dr. Miller studies the influence of genetics in susceptibility to virally-induced tumors.
