 Biography

Dr. Yi-Jen Chen is a board-certified radiation oncologist who joined the City of Hope in 2002. He received his MD degree from the National Yang-Ming University in Taiwan followed by Ph.D. training in Tokyo, Japan. After establishing a career as a GI surgical oncologist, he then furthered his oncologic training in radiation oncology at the University of California, Irvine. He joined City of Hope in 2002, where he has specialized in colorectal cancer, anal cancer, hepatic cancers, biliary/gallbladder cancers, gynecologic cancers, brachytherapy, image-guided radiation therapy, IMRT, and TomoTherapy. Dr. Chen has published extensively in these areas and is recognized for his expertise in GI cancers. He currently serves as a panel member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, which develops national guidelines for the treatment of GI cancers. Dr. Chen has authored 36 publications in peer-reviewed journals and delivered 22 abstracts and presentations.

He is currently a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is active in clinic and clinical research and is Principal Investigator of clinical trials.
