Biography

Sarkis Baltayian, M.D., brings a wealth of experience to the Department of Anesthesiology at City of Hope National Medical Center. Dr. Baltayian joined City of Hope in December 2004 as a staff anesthesiologist. His experience of over 25 years as an anesthesiologist is a valuable asset to the Department of Anesthesiology and the many divisions and departments that he supports.
 
Dr. Baltayian began his medical training at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. He then went on to complete a residency in General Medicine and a fellowship in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Argentina. After a position as attending physician in Internal Medicine and the Intensive Care Unit of Clinica Modelo, also in Buenos Aires, he continued his medical education in the United States by completing a residency in Anesthesiology at Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts and a fellowship in Anesthesiology at UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California.

Following his fellowship at UCLA, Dr. Baltayian served as staff anesthesiologist at San Bernardino County Medical Center (now Arrowhead Regional Medical Center) in San Bernardino, California. He then went into private practice as an anesthesiologist in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas of California. He then served as a staff anesthesiologist for 22 years at Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles before coming to City of Hope.
 
Sarkis Baltayian, M.D., is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Baltayian is fluent in Spanish, Armenian, and English.
