Michael Amini, right, signs a beam as Michael A. Friedman, M.D., City of Hope’s president and chief executive officer, looks on during a “topping-off” ceremony for the future Michael Amini Transfusion Medicine Center.

Amini, chair and chief executive officer of AICO (Amini Innovation Corp.) and a longtime supporter of City of Hope, contributed $6 million to fund the construction of the facility. The center will house City of Hope’s blood collection, analysis, processing and transfusion programs. Amini gathered with several other key supporters and City of Hope leaders for the ceremony on April 23, which marked the placement of the final piece of the Amini Center’s inner structure — the signed beam — at the building’s apex.
