Cutting through the haze of uncertainty about “chemo brain” |
| Breast cancer patients often blame chemotherapy for losing their car keys or forgetting appointments. But no one was certain whether this so-called “chemo brain” effect was caused by therapy or other factors related to disease or treatment. New research aims to nail down the link. |

| Baked rhubarb — yes, rhubarb — could help fight cancer. And baking the vegetable is key. Chinese traditional medicine has used Oriental medicinal rhubarb to treat cancer for thousands of years. So, British researchers looked at their native rhubarb and found that baking it for 20 minutes increased the levels of anticancer chemicals called polyphenols. These phytochemicals are known to inhibit cancer cells’ growth and even kill them. The researchers hope to test rhubarb’s polyphenols on cancer cells.
