Senior Vice President, Communications
Brenda Maceo has been senior vice president of communications at City of Hope since 2005. She oversees a broad range of strategic communications and integrated marketing initiatives, including marketing, advertising, media relations, publications, cause-related marketing, creative services, visitors’ services and events. Communications supports City of Hope’s research, patient care and fundraising programs.
Maceo brings more than 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing to the biomedical research and cancer treatment center. She is former associate vice president at the University of Southern California (USC) and senior associate dean at the Keck School of Medicine of USC in Los Angeles. While at USC, Maceo was responsible for developing and overseeing strategic communications for the university’s health sciences schools, programs and hospitals. She also has served as public relations advisor to the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. She previously worked for the public relations agency, Manning Selvage & Lee.
While at USC, Maceo launched the organization’s first integrated marketing campaign, the “Doctors of USC,” which resulted in increased referrals and patient care revenue. She also led the rebranding of USC’s medical school to the Keck School of Medicine of USC. At City of Hope, Maceo has led an update of the City of Hope brand, introduced its first national public service announcement campaign and helped launch the partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles called ThinkCure!, among other accomplishments.
Maceo is a graduate of USC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism.
