As one of the most advanced treatment facilities in the country, Helford Clinical Research Hospital embodies what City of Hope is known for: a remarkable combination of innovative research, compassionate patient care and dedicated supporters.

Helford Hospital establishes an even stronger foundation for City of Hope’s continued progress in science and medicine, made possible only with philanthropic support. Construction of Helford Hospital was championed by longtime City of Hope philanthropists Irwin and Betty Helford, and the opportunity for donors to make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer did not end with the opening of the hospital’s doors.

While only three to four percent of patients nationwide are enrolled in clinical trials, about 40 percent of City of Hope patients participate in this critical research. These trials help develop and refine new therapies so they can be shared with patients around the world. Helford Hospital continues to allow us to speed the process of bringing new treatments to others across the country battling life-threatening illnesses. This important work depends on the continued generosity of our supporters.
